Portraits of pop icons: unique, vibrant, dramatic – and consistently precise.

Jorge Arévalo

Since the late 1990s, Jorge Arévalo has been one of the defining voices in international editorial illustration. Born in Madrid, the illustrator, art director, and designer first gained recognition for his portraits in the cultural supplement La Luna of El Mundo. From there, he developed an international career that made him a sought-after designer for magazines such as The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Rolling Stone, and Esquire.

In addition to his magazine work, Arévalo collaborates with renowned brands and agencies. He has created visual concepts for Cartier, BBVA, Ray-Ban, Shiseido, Carolina Herrera, and has accompanied the collections of Custo Dalmau since 2006.

His work has received multiple awards, including from the Society for News Design (USA), and has been featured in key TASCHEN publications such as Illustration Now, Portraits, and 100 Illustrators.

For decades, Arévalo has combined precise craftsmanship, a contemporary visual language, and a keen sense for cultural icons into a style that is recognized worldwide.
